It would be an understatement to describe the new Blackline Safety product as a mere personal gas detector because the manufacturer has added completely novel networked safety technology for gas detection and alerts.
The device provides cloud-connected safety features, targeted especially at lone working and gas measurements.
Many conventional gas detectors use beep-and-flash technology for alerts. Sound and vibration are not always enough, however – the user may be injured or incapacitated by a gas leak, for example. Furthermore, the alarm may not be heard from afar, delaying the notification of relevant personnel.
Blackline Safety takes protection one step further. Each device transmits its location in real time to ensure that if something does happen, workers can be rescued as quickly as possible.
Blackline Safety also offers location beacons for increased accuracy indoors. Indoor location solutions make it possible to pinpoint where people are inside buildings with multiple floors and rooms.
The device can also replace conventional walkie-talkies with its Push-to-Talk (PTT) speakerphone feature. The PTT function allows users to communicate with unlimited range and even in explosive atmospheres (ATEX). The device’s SMS function also supports quick communication in the field.
