Sarlin joins Gasum as the new comprehensive maintenance partner for filling stations

From the start of 2022, we will take comprehensive responsibility for the maintenance services of Gasum filling stations.

Maintaining a functional distribution chain for environmentally friendly gas is increasingly critical in today’s world where different consumption habits and environmental targets increase the need for low-emission mobility. Energy company Gasum Ltd has taken up this challenge and is quickly building new filling stations in Finland and the other Nordic countries.

Better gas filling station reliability through centralised maintenance

Our new partnership gives us responsibility for all maintenance and condition monitoring tasks at specific Gasum filling stations.  We deliver the services with our partner network to ensure timely and high-quality service. Our easternmost station is located in Imatra and the westernmost in Tampere, which also happens to be the farthest north.

The gas filling station maintenance system is bound to develop under the stewardship of two industry pioneers. Gasum is a leading expert and supplier in the Nordic gas industry while Sarlin possesses the most extensive gas technology and maintenance services expertise in Finland.

Our collaboration secures an effective gas supply chain for everyone with a gas-powered vehicle. The stations feature both renewable biogas and natural gas.

The decision to consolidate the maintenance of gas filling stations was a strategic one for Gasum, who sought to streamline maintenance responsibilities.

- We sought a solution that would concentrate the maintenance of each filling station to a single responsible operator. We believe that the Sarlin solution will improve the security of gas supply, clarify areas of responsibility, and free up our time from operational maintenance, says Jarno Jokinen, Development Manager responsible for maintenance and servicing at Gasum.

Reliable stations are crucial for drivers

Our partnership is centred around the wish to better serve drivers of gas-powered vehicles and provide the smoothest possible filling station experience. Different gases play an important part in reducing traffic emissions, and motorists are increasingly interested in using environmentally friendly gases.

Although drivers may not notice the maintenance work of gas filling stations, maintenance is what keeps the station running smoothly. Simply growing the gas filling station network is not enough to increase the number of gas-powered vehicles – no one wants to try and find the next station if the first one is faulty.

- The reliability of every gas filling station is highly important to drivers. Customers remain happy when they have a good experience at every station, says Jokinen.

The extensive maintenance concept with Sarlin is the first of its kind. The concept is the result of both the tendering process and successful open dialogue, which helped us prepare the objectives, monitoring and shared metrics.
